Tom McMahon enjoys practicing law and could not imagine being in a different profession. Mr. McMahon has won multi-million dollar lawsuits for both plaintiffs and defendants. He has successfully represented clients at the trial and highest appellate levels of the federal and state judicial and administrative systems. These successes have been achieved in Colorado and elsewhere around the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court. He has also acted as lead, local, and antitrust counsel in national, regional, and state class action type lawsuits. Mr. McMahon also has extensive experience advising and representing physicians, medical groups and other health care providers and entities regarding antitrust, competition, discipline, licenses, and privileges in internal, state and federal administrative and judicial proceedings. He served for a number of years as Chief of the Colorado Attorney General's nationally-renowned Antitrust Unit, with responsibility for directing all antitrust affairs on behalf of the State of Colorado. While with the Colorado Antitrust Unit, Mr. McMahon served as a Vice-Chair of the National Association of Attorneys General Antitrust Multi-State Task Force. He is a member and past Chair of the Antitrust Subsection of the Colorado Bar Association. Likewise, he is a member of the American Bar Association's Antitrust Law Section, of which he is a past vice-chair of the State Antitrust Enforcement Committee. Mr. McMahon has written and lectured widely on antitrust matters. He has published numerous articles and contributed to several books relating to antitrust law. Mr. McMahon has appeared on the PBS "MacNeil-Lehrer Report" and the NBC "Today Show" as a commentator on antitrust issues. He has taught sessions of the antitrust course at the University of Denver College of Law. Mr. McMahon has also made presentations both as a faculty member in numerous national, regional, and state Continuing Legal Education programs in antitrust, and as a lecturer on antitrust matters before a wide variety of professional groups. In a prior life, Mr. McMahon was a member of the USAF JAG Corps, where he served as an Area, and then as a Circuit, Defense Counsel with the USAF Trial Judiciary. A Michigan native, he obtained his B.A. "With High Honor" from Michigan State University, where he was a Merit Scholar and member of the Honors College. Mr. McMahon earned his J.D. cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, where he served as a Note and Comment Editor for the Michigan Law Review and graduated Order of the Coif.
